South Cornwall watched the rain blow over with envy, not a drop! I haven't panicked but now I am. What are we going to feed! Start our first cut and then have little in October?

Must admit today is the first day I have started to feel a bit sick to the stomach thinking about forage stocks, I have always thought our farm could handle a drought but obviously not with current stocking rates!

Feeling the same. Had pencilled in 60acres of a 2nd cut for end of the month. Now looking at 40 in the middle of next month at best.

So........what's the plan? Cut numbers? Cull bottom 10%? Feed more expensive cake? Pray for a decent September till x mas with cows out a fair bit and a mid feb turn out?

Maize is gonna be a 1/2 crop at best. WC is 25% down on tonnage. Fodder beet at struggling and ad plants can afford to out bid cows.
