Drought for cows

I hope you're right .Certainly needed the rain here. Cows going into covers of 2000! The joys of having a small grazing block and nearly six cows per ha . Glad for the fourth cut bales I made last year. This is the first year I've come out of winter with silage left over.

I'm the same on the silage front, I've never really had any left over before but have tons this year. My cows have been going into covers of near 4000 that should have been silaged, I should be able to skip the rest now and put them in something more sensible.

I'm not going out to measure it again because it's just started pi$$ing down again but this is a pint glass I put out yesterday morning. There's a good 2 inches in there but the sides are slightly tapered.

Very little rain here. My milkers are on a dry land farm - Hertfordshire - and the grass isn't growing. Last night's "rain" barely damped down the dust and the showers forecast for today haven't materialised.

The ten day forecast isn't showing any rain either, until a week on Wednesday (so plenty of time for this to be wrong too!) :(

Ah. I'll shut up then!

It's not like I don't have options. I can move cows to a unit with plenty grass, but 5ppl lower price, or bring a batch back in at night and feed silage that I have left over.

Not sure I can bring myself to have cows in a shed in sunny weather though. . .
