Your just panicking! (y)

A dry spring promotes good root growth and steady foliage growth.

Rain will arrive and harvest will be good yields and quality!

Do you think? I reckon when we get rain and heat it will wash N in and grow like crazy straight up, forgetting to tiller.

We've a couple mm forecast for Friday and more next week. I'm going to hit it with growth regulator, manganese sulphate and root promoter on Saturday. At 3-4 leaf now.

I have got to say it is not that warm in Lincs at the moment, but I still think the crops are suffering due to lack of water and the cold conditions,
Will a clever person please tell me I am panicking as I feel things are getting bad with regards to yield potential.

You are clever to be worried !

I hate frosts at this time of year, can't we just have them in jan and feb please

All rows just appearing here at the moment and relieved to see it all coming with no patchy bits as not had any rain this month.
If the plants are there it definitely roots better when it has to go looking for moisture than it does in a wet spring. Just need some rain by the end of the month and it should be alright. None in the forecast though:unsure:

I think we are going to miss the forecast rain.

Does anyone know what is happening in europe? Are they drier than normal?

Looking back through my weather records we had just 2mm rain April 2011 and similar in 2007 v our average of 38mm. Both those years gave us very good yields (we are heavy land though which may help).

We had none in April 2011 and ended up with 1 t/acre of winter barley and 2 t/acre wheat due to re- growth after mid June rain. Thats the diff between heavy and light land.

I had bumper crops in 2011 thanks to an inch of rain over the May Day bank holiday that East Anglia didn't get. It was dry until then and dry after that until late June.

Still little crop growth here. Leaf 3 on the wheat just won't bloody unfurl so I can stick the T1 to it. It has been emerging (and vulnerable) for 10 days now. Next week the wind gets up so it is being applied this weekend regardless.

My T1 is going on from today onwards, little crop growth here as well due to cold but most of all lack of moisture. Lightest land under severe stress now so all in all not a good prospect at present.
