Drought

I think we need a dry summer,big cracks in the ground would do a world of good after all the wet years.Winter crops will be fine,a lot of spring crops would suffer cos they went in so late,and stock farmers would be very short of feed.A dry summer is such a rarity that younger farmers have never experienced it before and are used to planning with never ending moisture to produce forage,might bring an adjustment in lots of things.

We missed the rain two weeks ago (well, we got 1.5mm) and having been running about with the fert spinner this morning in anticipation of a great deluge, it now appears the forecast has changed to show every burst of rain managing to divert around us once again. This will probably result in failure for my strip tilled maize sitting with a sad little root in the cobbly clay bits, although as per usual, the sand has sealed some moisture in at least.

Nothing here but east if us looks to be getting a drink. Think we may miss this lot.

@Brisel you got any?

2.5mm last night. 3mm this afternoon. Most of today's went north of here along the M4 corridor. A fair bit predicted over the weekend. I think a lot of the South is going to get a drop over the weekend. It's a bank holiday & tourists will be heading your way...

Tourists already here, caravan site full from tonight.

I’m revelling in saying how I hope it rains,they are not so impressed.

Nothing falling from the sky yet today.
