Dry cows mix

Hi just wanting peoples advice. We usually fed our dry cows bale silage but nearly out this year. We have plenty average clamp first cut and maize silage and brewers grains. What mix would people recommend?

Silage, wheat straw and rape meal here. Has worked very well for us had very little problems

Typical dry cow diet here is 40% maize, rest hay/straw, and 3kg dry cow rolls.

26-30kgs silage, 5kgs wheat straw, 0.8kgs rape meal

Your grass silage might be fine it might not. I would start 3 kg straw 3 maize 2 brewers grain 2 silage. Might need a bit more protein up grains decrease maize or add some soya or blend.

4kg ground wheat straw 8kg haylage 2kg milkers blend, 150grms dcow min and 150grms mag flakes.kg of dm for straw&haylage

The trick of it is to have the minerals put into their diet in such as way that they are all getting the required daily dose and aren't able to sort or avoid it or some animals are left with none- which is the risk with licks etc.

Whole crop or hay is good- being palatable it encourages them to stay full up. Supposedly lower in minerals, too.

plenty of straw in h/rye, about 3 feet per stem.

, barley straw, hay, bit of silage, 1kg of soya, d/c minerals, and mag flakes in the water

Saw it on a very good farm in Eglwyswrw, it’s an impressive amount of bulk.
