Newcastle Emlyn and Cardigan both shut - floods. The Teifi has swamped nearly all her bridges. Trees down everywhere.
Llechryd bridge - can you spot it? Not even the sides showing! It is at right angles pretty much to the back of the car...

The worst weather here in west wales for nearly 30 years. Nearly all of the towns and villages along the Teifi Valley have been affected by flooding. Carmarthern is a no go area because water has overflowed over the flood defence. One person between New Castle Emlyn and Carmarthen has been killed due to his car was caught in a landslide. More rain tomorrow morning again.

From what i saw on fb, the river at Llechryd Bridge has risen around 10ft since this morning, and it's only going to get worse as the water from our end of the Teifi reaches down there in the next few days.

It takes 4 hours of flood water from my bridge and land to reach Llechryd - so the levels must still be climbing!

It was over ago about 5 weeks ago here, likely had about 150mm in that time.

Had about 180 for the whole year so far . . . ( our annual "average" is about 600 mm )

we are a lot hotter & have much higher evaporation, that's the difference . . .

there are places in Australia that have over 1000mm / year . . .

Yup for 4 months of the year, unless we get cold and dry easterlies there is no evaporation here.

7mm now so far today, so much for yesterdays mornings forecast of a nice sunday

We've still only had a few showers and certainly not enough to do any good.

We've got a inch of damp soil on top with dust underneath still.

Dry patches on our heavy land the seed is still laying in dust and hasn't germinated.
