Drying out, again!

Grass is motoring here, afraid to say too much of it , but not going to complain.

ours got going but has about ground to a halt again at about 2 inches of vegetative growth. Looking increasingly unlikely we will get any sort of decent 3rd cut. Fresh cows in 24/7 as not enough to feed them outside whilst we've some land shut up for silage. Bulling heifers still being fed straw (was previously hay) in ring feeders and stale cows now downgraded from hay to straw when they come in at milking.

Not seen grass like that since May 2017
Been very lucky here in North Wales, have had rain of varying amounts quite regularly since late July, but also many days with hill fog, which might not up the rainfall totals much, wets the ground pretty good, one of the few benefits of farming @1200ft, we get hill fog quite often .
I went round the grazing fields with 70kg/acre of nitrogen, before going on holiday mid august, and the grass has not stopped growing since.

Drying out again? Is this a joke mines never got going!! Half the Second cut came to a head in July not long after it was slurryed, slurry has eventually washed in and the 90 acres of second cut I’ve got has received 18 ton of fertiliser before we had some rain about 3 week ago. It has Greened up and the half that came to a head has bulked up some but need some serious rain to keep it going or it will be Christmas before it’s ready to cut:(

Our grass has virtually stopped growing again! Had a nice rotation planned and the weather has buggered it again! Spent all of July doing yard work and feeding silage, looks like September is going to be the same. Can't wait to wave goodbye to 2018's weather!

Tis proper yer in East Cornwall. Just come in from rowing up 3rd Cut silage. Decided to cut it as grass getting away from cattle.
Best summer for years, more of the same please. (y)
