How’s your tb situation now ?

Just had a test without any reactors and only 1 IR, neighbour one side when clear in April but other is losing 5 a test and only have 45cows , I have no nose to nose contact with either herd , but the wildlife is living on their farm. You still having problems?

Best autumn test( we always fail in the autumn) in 8yrswith just2 inconclusives. Not sure yet whether we will but shut or just those 2 cows. The cull finally seems to be having an effect, here anyway.

Ok, when is all this weather gonna start effecting the production nationwide, haven't seen much of a drop yet?
What are your personal estimates for your own farm of percentage yield drop?
We've no yield drop but are buying alot of feed, currently 85% of the diet is purchased. Just taken another cut of silage and will take another cut at the end of the month all being well, hopefully some in October if we can still travel.

Fortunately my production hasn't decreased at all. As the greater proportion of my grazing is at or below sea level, and is part of a wetland sssi it retains a massive stay green factor. On the downside the grass that does grow is almost all natural wetland grasses that unfortunately are not particularly productive. However we are used to this and start conserved forage feeding in late June.

Fingers crossed I’ll have enough forage to see me through winter here, thankfully made plenty bales last year which I’m still feeding now,I’ve never seen “miracle valley” so bare in my lifetime!!! Although after next week I might suddenly have quite a lot of forage all of a sudden

Normally growing a summer crop guarantees summer rain but not this year. This was sown the first week of May and was still only ankle high until we had rain mid August.

It still not a great crop but at least there's something there now and it's nice to graze it without leaving a footprint. This time last year they were making a horrible mess .
