dual wheel width

Got a tractor on 520 70r38s set at 72inch centres. I have a set of 18.4 duals that will match but I'm concerned about overall width?

Anybody have any idea as to working it out?

I make it 3.4m????

Depends on the spacer on the duals but I'm thinking about 12 feet wide

To do the maths it's 72 inches plus 520 mm plus 2 times 18.4 plus 2 times the space between the wheel and dual

I have had CNH Magnums on 480/80 r50's with an overall width of 3.1 m. Some tractors are too wide in the rear body though to get duals that narrow.

Ok I get it now. You're talking about just putting the 18.4 's outside the the 520's. Depends how much mud you get in as to how much gap you need, unless you run scrapers between duals.

3.4 sounds about right ,we ran the same size and width infront of a 4 mtr power harrow and there was about 300 ish mm left between duel and end of harrow

Put them on and measure then cut some off the spacer ring on the duals to bring the width down to legal.
I bought a set of 16.9 38's that had been done.

I take it your wheels are on welded centres. Can you swap them side to side to get narrower track width?

No the rims are adjustable, I was just hoping not to have to change them as they currently suit the plough

Used to have duals on a 7840 with 16.9s, swapped the backs from side to side took the track from 72 to 60, then could get the duals on in 3m without cutting the spacer ring. I know it would be more with 18.4s but you get the idea.
If you could do this it saves a sh!t load of wheel adjusting with the centre to the rim etc.

what are yer doing in the mud????? rocks between duels thats when hell breaks loose do yer smash them out risking popping a tire or let the clamps off while under added pressure

I got a set of duals sorted today. Worked out 3.3m on 68inch centres. I think that will do!

Speaking of terra tyres. Deere on 72" centres with row crops outside and 520/70/38 with 340 outside measure a shade over 3m. Am putting on 66/43/26s, anyone got any measurements for these. Duals n mud not good. Might need Terras for first fert split n first spray this spring, way things are going

Terras were about 3.3 wide on my 5445. They are too small to match the RC of an 520/70r38 though, they match a 16.9r38 better.

Looking at the rc on agrigears site their BKT tyre is only 16mm less than 520s. But this seems to be a mistake
