Dual wheels.

Does anyone use step down duals? I have two tractors. One on 20.8s and another on 580s. I need duals for top work and sowing tractor.
Would like 48” step downs to keep to 3m for roads, but do they give enough advantage in field to bother with or am I better getting 20.8s on duals. Going to use sale duals for both tractors as they’re needed different times of year

What do you mean by step downs? Different width? As long as the rolling radius is the same, you should be fine with narrower ones. Just make sure the tyres do not touch or stones will damage the sidewalls.

Got 800/70/38 , with a big row crop as a dual ,same as kb to keep in 4 m , made step down out of another rim , 42 ,as middle is 38 and bead flange was 46 , so worked ,and then got a flat rolled to make rail ,for clamps ,goingbto search for pic now of when new ,
op
you will have to do a bit of research ,as to the static load radius , to get tyre pressures right , so even loading on tyres , will look for more pic tonight

Yes 270/95R48 suits but getting rims is hard part. Be interested in seeing your made ones will.
Don’t want to have to go new as was quoted nearly £2.5k
Plenty of 20.8s r38s about but won’t can’t drill or fit on roads. But might have to do in short term.

I have an old set of 46” rowcrops will measure them up tomorrow to see if they’d suit along with your 48s. Not that my welding might hold mind
