Dualing a single axle muck spreader

Has anyone dual’d up a single axle manure spreader (I’ve heard it’s more common in the Netherlands) or gone to specialised LGP wheels

With tricky conditions and an ever increasing workload early in the year, we are consider this to get going sooner in the spring or spread on top of ploughing without sinking out of sight!

Is it a rotary or rear beater spreader. Shouldnt be 2 hard but youl have to make sure spreader sits level when on tractor otherwise 1 wheel will be takin most o the weight. Local scrap yard should be fit to get you axle and just put new bearings in for trouble free motorin

I’m thinking we’d fit duals in field as they would be really wide

*We are fairly lucky to have some big blocks of land (not individual fields)

Other option is LSW super singles (I think these would be very expensive and 1100 or 1250’s so would make the spreaders approx 4m wide) so dispensation notice escort etc

Information is a bit limited online - just wondered if anyone had ‘been there - done that” before

Next door used to dual their bunning lowlander 105's back in the 90's the dual wheel eyes are still on them now

A friend of mine once put much wider tyres on a slurry tanker and he said it gave a lot of trouble with wheel bearings, so I'd suggest you extend the axle to keep the hub nearer the centre of the wheels

Easily doable. Fliegl has pee poor axle support though, we noticed it was cracking before we put duals on it. As it was going under warranty, we told the 3rd party welder make it overbuilt. No problems whatsoever, isn't tight on field roads or yards. 2x420mm on 34" rims.

Our contractors used 650/85R32 for a while, they've gone back to 580/70R38 because the axles kept falling off. They were worked very hard though.

What size tyres now?

Problem will be wheel bearings and axle mounting. Our Weston D10 has a pathetically small axle for the size of wheels on it, wouldn’t be any good dualling it.
Have a word with the manufacturer, although I would suggest they’ll say no. The axle manufacturer may be more helpful although I doubt it.

They are pretty much the same diameter as factory fit 710’s - I think they will take me to 4m or just under depending on what we can gain with rim centres

Just waiting on availability & cost from our local agricultural tyre company

I think I’m going to be more limited with duals as the push the track width a long (long) way out due to the gap required between - hopefully be better with more efficient floatations

That's too bad. It's sitting in the shed at the moment, since it's illegal to spread manure here before april.

I can see more rules & restrictions coming in the UK ?‍

No land left unplanted or bare for a set time seems very likely
