Dump trailer

Hello everyone,
I’m looking to buy a dump trailer and would like it on full commercials with the 420x180 brakes on 20t suspension but I only want a small body on it to carry like 14t of hardcore so it would get like 18t of clay on. Also I’d like to be able to take it on jobs with the 3t digger and be able to load it over the sides.
Has anyone had anything to do with hardox floors and sides? I’ve seen that some have 5mm and 6mm sides and seen a few with dents in them and 8mm floors and the floors all bent in. Would 5mm hardox floor do a better job of not bending in or would it need to be like a 12mm floor as we do shift some stone for a chap and the stone can be in 5t or more blocks so don’t want it to dent on the first use.
We have thought about buying a chassis and making our own body to suit but it’s a fairly big job. Also would like the back door like the NC or on some rams like the smyth.
Opinions welcome.
Thanks
Mark

Give these a try, as already mentioned your better off getting one made to your spec, would be cheaper than going through a dealership.

NC 14t would do the job surely ?? (314??)
They’re pretty tough.

although there is one around here that has been on granite lumps ( approx 10t a piece) that now resembles a boat hull. 😳😳

Hardox is amazing stuff 6 mm hardox450 would be as good as 10mm mild steel the difference is it returns to original whereas mild steel will bash. Steel is a lot dearer but fabrication is no different unless the design requires it to be folded then it is much more difficult

Yeah I saw the ktwo as a friend has a couple of them. They do look good trailers but they don’t have the door I want on the rear. Problem is I’ve had stuff stuck in a door when it’s loaded and it’s a pain in arse to get it out when all the tractor is off the floor and the weights are the only bits touching the ground. I’m hoping this door will cure that issue.

Yeah they would I just wondered if there was something that may almost fit the requirements we wanted. I know it’s a Jack of all and no good at any but that would be ok for us if it did every job we wanted to a reasonable level.

A lot of your irish manufacturers will only give a few options like thicker floor higher sides etc not major alterations. A few will but at cost same with mainland brands. Find a trailer which is close to doing what you want and then see about getting it tweaked would be the most cost effective option. Aw are v good for special builds but not cheap as are Bailey and possibly slightly cheaper though Bailey probably won't veer as far from a trailer they build as aw might. Either way you go make sure chassis and running gear is the mutts nuts, at least that way you can always re body it the future (5 ton lumps of stone are gonna test any body).
