Cant fault my Duncan planter. Awesome picece of kit.
Well, that depends on what stock I carry .... if I have the machine you need, obviously that Best But if not it’s a minimum of 8 weeks but could be a little over that either..That looks pretty mighty. What's the lead time like at the moment?

Do you use one ? Which model ? DD30 will drill into standing green covers & chopped straw & does it well .... so I don’t know what u mean ?TBH - they are pretty fûcked - no trash clearance at all, don’t really work if you are trying to retain as much ground cover as possible
Which IS the point of zero till after all
isn’t it ? ? ?

You pay a fair bit extra for a bit better, and a lot more than that for a bit better againthe problem with the dd30 is that it doesn’t control depth very well in undulating terrain. Slot closure the horrible problem for many people is also an issue in certain soil types.
Clay soils are the Achilles heel for most drills
At the end of the day it was built to fit into a certain price in the market and does that very well. There are machines better than it, but you have to pay for it.
We are on heavy & wet clay soils up here .. & yes slot closure is the biggest issue with all disc drills with press wheels in the wrong conditions .... no exceptions. You can pay dearer for other makes & gain very little Benefit. So why spend ??
To direct drill successfully you have to know the machine, the farm & the weather regardless of brand.
If the slot looks to be open a lot , why ?? Ring roll after drilling if it’s dry enough, if it’s not well maybe you shouldn’t be drilling either?
if the ground is uneven, why ? Trafficking... ? Or contours ? Well light run off a speed disc would help a lot .. in both cases.
That would be my approach ... rather than shelling out considerably more dollars for a brand you’d only later find that u still hadn’t gotten the “ perfect” machine .. just saying

almost as bad as collecting shotguns
Good machines for the price, especially into tame country. Would be a great setup if they made a model with better trash clearance via individual units with wider spacings, but then you're getting into $$$$, and you'd just buy an Allen
Our bush soils down here are really springy, especially after 100 years in "bush burn mix" which means about a (tight) ten-inch thatch layer over clay. Add rocks to taste. We have an Allen drill, it’s good but not amazing. Just wish we could close the slot better in clay soils. Sadly waiting till the ground dries out more isn’t always an option.
i swear I collect machinery like you collect shotguns

Slots generally look like a yawning hippopotamus, but I suppose it gets the slugbait down in there
