Do you always put Dursban on grass reseeds?

I've always put it on when it was grass going back into grass but what about when it is grass following barley / wheat?

At the moment it looks fine and seedbed is very clean but normally by the time you see a problem it is too late to do anything about it.

Thoughts?

Never had a prob with grass (old PP) re seeds , lots of root material left for the creepy craw lies ,gives new plants a fair chance. Agronomist said you couldn't put enough Dursban on an old sward to kill everything anyway. Just DD a field and it's come ok, biggest hazard are the creeping thistle that's become a plague in there.

No but it might just kill enough to give the new grass a chance. Wouldn't reseed an old ley without chucking some Cyren in with the roundup myself.

Too late to sort it once the damage is done.

If the Ley is 10 years or more we would definatly use dursban for wireworm. Had a reseed decimated a few years ago due to wire worm but that was a very old Ley. Would spray for frit fly on site but generally more when over seeding, or some times with something like mircam plus at 2/3 leaf stage.

At what point would you spray just before reseed or just after

Some people add it to the glysophate, but we normally eat off with animals after the initial glysophate application and dursban can't be eaten off for a while, we would then leave for a month and grow a crop of weeds and spray the dursban then with 2L/Ha of roundup before drilling.

I can't understand mixing dursban with roundup. You want it to be dry when applying roundup whilst dursban is best applied in the rain!
