Dutch or VOS

We were given a couple of VOS coulters to try this year beside our Dutch coulters. Unfortunately the weather demanded that most of the drilling was done with our Claydon and the Borgault didn’t get tested.
The Dutch points on our Sprinter are just about ready to be changed. Is there a benefit of using VOS?

Yeah you become one of the cool kids as they ware far less than the other brands etc. according to reports I’ve read
Seconded. The chap from Martin Lishman came round and gave a good talk to me in my shed; when you compare Dutch/VOS the differences in build quality/design are clear. I went into the talk convinced on Dutch and came out convinced on VOS. However; having had a similar demo booked in the spring (2021) to change a couple of coulters I’m currently minded to cancel them as I’m so thrilled with how the metcalfe drilled crops are coming up in this challenging season...but we are on the Fens and I understand wear is an issue in more abrasive soil on the metcalfe and Dutch (and to a lesser extent Bourghalt). Clear as mud but worth a try-Martin lishman will give you a couple to try whereas Spaldings (Dutch) wouldn’t when I tried to get a comparison...but then the Dutch are quite a bit cheaper (I have circa £50 per coulter cheaper in my head...120 vs 170 ish but that literally is plucking figures from my brain!)

The 2 inch Dutch is about 50 and the 5inch around 76 I think.
Have found the Dutch good but I think the angle on the VOS looks like it peels less soil up and disturbs less.

I've run both and prefer the bourgault coulter. You can alter the angle of the bourgault where you can't on the Dutch and the wear rates are better as you get a lot more metal for your money. The price difference is a lot less now lishmans are now the sole sellers of bourgault.I have run the 4inch vos on my sprinter direct this year with very pleasing results

Can you share some pictures of it straight after drilling please? And of crop emerged? I use 2 inch Dutch but the shape does boil the soil

I had 2 inch Dutch on my co before I sold it and bought a sprinter.I wanted more crop compitition that's why I went for the 4inch vos on the sprinter with multi grip tines as I new it wouldn't bounce out like on the co tines. They seem to work better direct than with cultivation. They don't move any more soil than the 2 inch Dutch really. If you email me I will send some photos
