If it doesn't rain in the next month it certainly will be an early harvest. Flag leaf timings are pretty typical, so no change there. Oilseed rape is still flowering on the extra side branches in the thinner crops so maturity dates will be well spread out on those.

july weather will determine when we harvest
if it is hot and dry then it will be early although round here with little rape ,wheat and barley planted last autumn harvest will be later than normal
an early finish at current forecast as plenty of sun and temperature above 20 will speed spring crops along

I am getting used to these not cutting wheat August bank holiday harvests, shame this one might be a bit rubbish.

I think i might harvest 60% of my spring barley with the muck spreader and discs as it might be more profitable

if it stays this dry there won’t be a harvest on some fields

No rain on the two week look ahead in the East.

BBC outlook shows sod all rain in the next 2 weeks and probably dry the following 2 weeks as well.... :banghead: I am not convinced the spring wheat is going to put ears out at all, some of it looked well but it seems to have stopped moving

Have the Cheshire dairy farmers starting to buy up standing crops for wholecrop? Forage must be disappearing rather rapidly.

I have decided I need to go off on holiday for 2 weeks so I don't have have look at it any more, hopefully something changes whilst I am away.... oh wait :banghead::banghead:

ears out and dying off in big patches now - if this keeps up we will harvest wheat in June

no hope of averaging 1t/ac now - it’s buggered

in some cases the next big management decision will be what to bother combining
That would be unheard of Clive, I truly hope you're wrong!

We have 2 fields of beans that I think are now a glorified fallow!

Import/export? ;)
Funny you should ask that - in fact on one occasion I came across an interesting lady from Texas who was in the game of importing Bolivian llamas to the US and from there exporting them to the UK.

Unfortunately, our train then broke down a good day and night away from the llama auction we were heading for at Juliaca, Peru which, she later told me, resulted in considerable disappointment for her.

As to any more lucrative import opportunities, I couldn't possibly comment.

We aren't there yet. But another 2 weeks without rain and we'll be in trouble. Sounds like some of you guys are already there.

We thought 2018 was a once in 25 year event but at moment looks like it could happen again. Sub 1.5t crops. Nitrogen levels over 2.

Tempted to go against my own advice and hit it with a trace element brew next week if no rain in forecast.
