earth bed cubicles

got a shed with 40 beds in that need topping up
it will get a heavy roller treatment, but what I want to know is if I mix hydrated lime on the top of the bed and roll that down will the surface go harder and stay more solid for longer?

Yes but if you run a loader over it to muck it out you scrape it all away anyway. A loose housing shed here was done with lime on the ground to help harden it up and it did work but not for long. Probably better than bare earth though.
It's a concrete floored shed now too btw ;)

chap who started here in 1938, long gone, came out of an earth/mud floor house, into a brand new one.
so to a standard if you can get an earth/mud floor to be good enough for a dwelling, albeit very dated, I presume it didn't turn to slush every time it rained, why can't you get a cubicle bed to 'solidify ?
interestingly, he didn't get a wage, his wife had to go to the local shop, and book it to the farmer.
how times have changed, for the better
