Earthquake?

It created quite a stir locally but I missed it. Last time I went through an earthquake was in New Zealand .When they reported it on the news, they said the area was hit by a serious quake but I was on the bus and didn't feel that one either.

EARTHQUAKE IN Hartcliffe South Bristol.

An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale hit hartcliffe in the early afternoon in the Fulford Rd area. Victims were seen wandering around aimlessly, muttering "Fuuuckinell".

The tremor decimated the area causing approximately £30 worth of damage. Several priceless collections of mementos from Majorca and the Costa del Sol were damaged beyond repair.

Three areas of historic burnt out cars were disturbed. Many locals were woken well before their giros arrived. The Hartcliffe Mercury reported that hundreds of residents were confused and bewildered and were still coming to terms with the fact that something interesting had happened in Hartcliffe.

One resident - Tracy grey, a 20 year-old mother of 5 said, "it was such a shock, my little Chardonnay-Mercedes come running into my bedroom crying. My youngest two, Tyler-Morgan and Victoria-Storm slept through it all. I was still shaking when I was skinning up and watching Jeremy Kyle the next morning".

Apparently looting, muggings and car crime were unaffected and carried on as normal. The British Red Cross has so far managed to ship 4,000 crates of White Lightning to the stricken locals.

Rescue workers are still searching through the rubble and have found large quantities of personal belongings, including benefit books, jewellery from Elizabeth Duke at Argos and Bone China from Poundland.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

This appeal is to raise money for food and clothing parcels for those unfortunate enough to be caught up in this disaster.

Clothing is most sought after - items most needed include:

Baseball caps

Full matching tracksuits

Nike Huarachi trainers

Tartan pyjamas

UGG Boots and any other items usually sold in Primark.

Food parcels may be harder to come by, but are needed all the same.

Microwave meals, Pot Noodles, Tins of baked beans, ice cream, Cans of Strong Bow or Special Brew and of course pies.

22p buys a biro for filling in compensation forms.

£2 buys chips, crisps and blue fizzy drinks for a family of 9.

£9 buys B&H and a lighter to calm the nerves of those affected.

***Breaking News***

Rescue workers found a girl in the rubble smothered in Raspberry alcohol-pop.

'Where are you bleeding from?' they asked. "Martock" said the girl, "wossit got ta do with you?"

I was sitting in the car waiting for Mrs Duck to come out of M&S Carmarthen when it struck. The car rocked back and forth as if there were strong gusts of wind, just for a few seconds. It certainly caught my attention as I was puzzling that there just wasn't any wind and I did look around the car in case someone was taking the pee and rocking it.

Then I just forgot all about it for maybe an hour, until I heard on the radio as I was travelling home, about the earthquake. Then the penny dropped.

Its really quite exciting to realise that I'd been through my first real earthquake.

Mrs Danllan felt the place shake, I just heard what I thought was big thunder and didn't really feel anything.

What did your animals do? Our sheep didn't seem concerned at all, even the ewe-lambs who usually react to the unusual; but the cattle all crowded in a corner, being brave...

I did a geology degree and have been fascinated by earthquakes ever since. But it's the first earthquake I've experienced; having missed them many times, sometimes by mere minutes  in East Africa, Japan and Italy.

The epicentre was only about thirty miles East from us, but we are on a different fault system, so the shock was probably attenuated somewhat. People in England seem to have felt it more than here, it was even felt 200 miles away.

Nobody is blaming you Dan Llan fy machgen i, whichever fault system you may be on does not mean that you are in any way to blame.

The fact that you have a geology degree has nothing to with it boy.

You see, earthquakes are not caused by geology; they happen because the gods are angry with us. We don’t know why, but in this case it could be because you have not been making enough sacrificial offerings of virgins at the altars of Mamon and Circe in Neath and Swansea.

But be warned all ye heretics, ye pagans and ye disbelievers! The gods are aroused, and they are angry, and I tell you Llanrwst will be next!

Watched the cctv recordings of our Cow Channels. You can hear the buildings rattle and see the picture shake but the cattle took no notice at all.

Paid a feddwl gormod bachgen, mae’n hen amser gwely.

Off to bed with yer lad; too much thinking about earthquakes and blaming yourself for all your faults is bad for you.

Don’t matter how many ologys you have, you need to get some rest. Llanrwst will just be history when you wake up.

Two teams of volunteers have been dispatched from this area to help out in Hartcliffe . It is believed their main roll will be to refix dislodged Sky TV dishes and replace sofas to their correct positions .
