Yes, we were talking about this.
Wants someone with some data behind them to show the effectiveness.
Data as in;
"Mob grazing long grass captures X tonnes of carbon in the soil"

"Holistic grazing increases water holding capacity of soil by X thus decreasing pollution through run off by Y"

"Ploughing releases X tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere, direct drilling only releases Y"

Etc, etc?

Yes, but also some evidence to support these claims. There's plenty of people who have been farming regeneratively for many years who also have soil tests results etc to show the gains.

Just had a quick squint at the website and it mentioned something about applications being "rooted in science", so would need some research behind it (much as I hate the narrow focus of science!)

Thinking this would be the one to go for https://earthshotprize.org/the-earthshots/nature/

@Sheila Cooke what do you think, £1m Earth Shot prize any good to you? Have you got any contacts in the Savory network that could get the ball rolling?

"Eat less red meat to save the planet"

That's the simple message that seems to be getting more and more traction, our (sustainable producers of red meat) response is????????

Winning an Earth Shot prize for regenerative grazing would be a massive response;

"Cows save the planet"
"Eat local regeneratively grazed red meat to save the planet"
"Happy cows, happy planet, healthy customers"

Ok, the message might need a bit of working on!

Anyone know how you would even start to go about getting a bid together?

Hmmm, not setting the world on fire with this idea then! But will crack on regardless.

Challenge will be getting holistic/regenerative grazing on the radars of the award "nominating partners" whoever they are?

Hi folks, just saw this thread. We are 3LM, and the hub for the Savory Network in the UK and Ireland. My husband has put in for the Earthshot Prize for the purpose of educating Holistic Management to school-age children. The sooner children know how our ecosystem functions, and how to manage holistically, the sooner we'll change our world.

If you're interested, please let me know at: [email protected]
