Irish tractor lads go to experience the world, and broaden their horizons. Make a bit of cash as well. Pretty damn sure though, that if they were “asked”, to come to any country in October, when that country was in a crisis, and they were told to be out to fudge, by midnight Christmas Eve, they would stay home or go elsewhere.
European drivers are now in demand in the EU, where they have freedom of movement. They don‘t have to put up with the get to fkukk out on Christmas Eve attitude.

They move around for seasonal work to make money. Trucking's quite seasonal too, from now until Christmas is a busy time and an opportunity to make some good money, then go home to your family for Christmas/New year, sounds good to me.
If they can earn more elsewhere they will but UK rates seem OK at the moment.
What would an Irish driver on domestic work be earning at the moment?

My daughter went for a job interview at a Potato packing plant (very big named for the village it’s in) . Plenty of jobs but not many applicants but when you consider they are offering £9.44 an hour for a 12 hour 6am to 6pm shift no overtime you work 7 days through then get a week off then back to work it’s understandable. It’s not the land of milk and honey it’s supposed to be for the indigenous employee.

in fairness to Brexit, hopefully this is one of the good things that will come out of it, a improvement of pay and conductions as company's have now a reduced access to a larger work force. however that has to be matched by a better willingness to work. else the company's will just shut up shop and move .

I've always believed to old saying " a fair day wage for a fair days work"
