Do you hire bulls out? I’m in Lincolnshire

Hi, thanks for your reply! We had 10 bulls by him born in 2018, seven that will be available in spring, and three in late summer / autumn. We have been impressed with his bull calves, a really consistent type. Loving his heifers too, they are going to make awesome cows.

I have been putting some photos of his bull calves in a Facebook album, 2018 bulls. There is only one AI calf on there, by Solpoll 1 Ferrari, Elwess Raikonnen. The rest are 91151H calves. I can't figure out how to post the link without it being 10 pages long...

We would love to show you around the herd in December!

We had the yearlings scanned yesterday (for performance recording purposes) and we were pleased with the results. The bulls have averaged 1.85kg / day since birth, with good eye muscle, marbling and fat depth scores for their age.

If you are looking for an easy-calving, high health bull for your heifers, please get in touch!

What are you feeding them to get that weight gain from birth?

They had a creep feeder in the field (a bit earlier than usual due to the lack of anything green for months) and then lots of grass this autumn. I think the weather this back-end really helped them motor along though. They were weaned at housing in November, then went on to adlib haylage and 1% of their bodyweight of a 16.5% blend from KW Feeds, split into two feeds a day. Achiever's genetics have made a noticeable impact on early growth rates in our herd, but he is an outcross so I suppose it is as close to hybrid vigour as we can get.

We have just got our annual blood test results back, and we are now Level 1 status for Johne's, accredited BVD free, and all the breeding cows tested negative for Neospora.

Robin went to a new home this week, so we have six easy-calving bulls left, aged 10-11 months at the moment.

This year's calf crop by Achiever are arriving now, no assistance required and up, about and feeding quickly. Plenty of photos and videos on our Facebook page, I love taking calf pics :)
