Robyn will be very pleased to relieve you of your hard earned cash however so would Dewi.

You are buying the sheep not the breeder.

Either will be pleased to see you and professional to deal with.
Innovis want £600 for one, easyram’s are more I think?
Was just wondering if someone had both

Thanks everyone
Didn’t realise the aberblack had Charolais in them
We run 1000 Welsh ewes
About 300 are crossed with a texel and all lambs sold fat, trouble is some of these crossers make their way into the kept ewe lambs.
Thought a black headed tup would sort that.needs to be hardy tho as lamb outside

How do the crosser kept ewe lambs do? Or aren't they hardy enough?

Cant/wont comment on Aberblacks. Our rams comprise EasySuffolks which are pure NZ Suffolks used extensively on Mules Welsh Cheviots and ewe lambs. 100% NZ and black faced. Lots being used for retaining females particularly ex Welsh and Mules
EasySufftex ( Dk/Lt Brown faced ) again 100% NZ with a % of Texel and mainly myomax carriers bred from imported Sufftex. Used especially on Mules and ? x Mule ewes.
All have Terminal and Maternal figs from Signet and SIL that are rising year on year. The best now have Figs in top 1% of Suffolks on Signet. Ram lambs and shearling rams available.
Examples of both viewable at NSA South Sheep tomorrow at Ardingly

Will the Sufftex lambs from Welsh ewes have brown coloured faces?

They introduce a bit of Charollais blood every now and again, to put better confirmation (& MyoMAX) in without losing growth (and no doubt a bit more 'get up and go'), then cross back with high index Suffolks IIRC. They are all black headed I think, so should throw the black headed lambs you're after, but with continental attributes of vigour and fleshing.

That sounds like it should be a really good cross.
There was some Welsh cross Suffolk lambs here a few days ago after they broke a fence from next door in true Welsh mountain sheep style
They were very impressive looking for April born lambs but they were all frame with no meat or fat whatsoever which was disappointing. A better choice of Suffolk or an aberblack (or just use a charollais) might have improved that

We use a NZ Sufftex ram (light brown face) on easycare ewes and the lambs have mainly white faces. You'd probably be better off with a darker sufftex or a pure Suffolk.
Thanks for the reply, sounds like a Suffolk will suit us better. Might have some ewe lambs to sell

How do the Sufftex lambs compare to other terminal sires that you've used on Easycares?

I think it used to be the case that @easyram1 used to sell either Sufftex S (darker face, more like a Suffolk) or Sufftex T but I think they've been stabilised now?
