Ebay drench gun?

Hi all.
Our old sheep drench gun needs replacing. I don't really fancy sheeling out £60 on a branded one. Has anyone bought one of those cheap unbranded Chinese ones from ebay like this:
Alternatively, Nettex do a slightly more expensive one at around £25.
I'm guessing they probably all come from China anyway and the quality differential is negligible.

It's not a big deal but I don't particularly want to waste £20 on a peice of junk plastic.

Cheers in advance

sh1t , you find the whole nozzle assembly will break off in a few weeks and there can be a lot of small parts (ball bearings and springs ) that fall out if you get a blockage , been there tried that ,

For sheep you will never need 50ml dosage capacity.

The feed pipe goes on in a really sh*t place on that, IMO.

You will can buy good quality dosing guns for £30-£35 from your local Ag supply store. That gun would need to be nearer £8-£10 before I'd consider it... and even then I'd only consider it.

That one doesn't appeal to me - it looks unbalanced, and, as already pointed out up the thread, the tube attachment is in an odd place.

Best buy tried and trusted - highly durable branded plastic ones between £20 - £30 in the ag. merchants, or the online livestock and farming suppliers - and make it your aim to maintain it to heirloom standard.

Too big and awkward unless you have shovel hands. As above...when are you going to squirt 50ml down a sheep's throat. I've never bought bigger than 10ml preferring to give two small squirts of anything that needs more and having the flexibility to give a small dose to lambs in a race and multiple squirts to ewes.

The Solantel (Solantel is a fluke product) drench gun is one of the best drench guns I`ve used - it will be available in other guises but I know it`s a superb "plastic" gun .

Got a country drench gun from my local supplier half the price of a nj Phillips and it's a far better gun. It's never been striped down not like the Phillips 1 that's 2 be done regularly.

Just checked, that Solantel 15ml drench gun is made by Simcro . Don`t think they`re easy to find as Simcro guns in the UK , you`ll have to look for them with a wormer "brand" on them. They knock the expensive metal guns in to a cocked hat if given a bit of care/ cleaning. Highly recommended!

I think they're pretty much the Same as sold under crovect pouron gun name, just need a drenching nozzle which wont come with it in that guise, same drench nozzle should fit though if you have an old one for spares,

I wouldn’t use anything other than a solving gun now, just so ergonomic. Wish they would make a 16ml version though. 2 squirts is fine with clear drench, but it’s a long day with white drench or fluke, pulling the plunger back out 100s of times
Zolvix gun?
If so and you want to replace the o ring to keep him working nice, a nitrile 2.5 mm cross section x 11mm inner diameter one will fit, plus a drop or 2 of silicon oil on the wiper behind the o ring on the piston will help.

last gun I bought was 20odd pound, lasted well. Must admit though I hardly ever buy one. When negotiating drench price always insist on a free gun. Every so often a hot wash and run cooking oil through it. They last until either I break them, sheep or cow breaks them or someone drops something heavy on them!

Likewise, I can’t remember the last one I bought (although we do buy the ‘free’ ones indirectly of course). Most are Symcro guns, and very good they are too. Mine get hot water fed through them when i’ve Finished using them, or maybe the day after, then get thrown back on the pile for next time. If they get sticky, they get a squib of silicon oil round the piston seal, but that’s it.

Zolvix gun is great for doses up to 8ml, but they aren't built To last ime. I have several on my ‘fix on a rainy day’ pile.

I've posted in other threads, I have this one branded as Downland - not sure who makes it

20ml. It's brilliant, I can't remember the cost but it wouldn't be expensive. If I'm feeling generous it gets cold water through it after I finish a dosing run (once all ewes or lambs are done - not the end of each day). It just keeps working. It doesn't give any bother and works with any dose type I've put through it... it's comfy in the hand and doesn't take much effort to close

Pretty sure that’s a Quicktag Attacker 20, just labelled for Downland.

Possibly... I have an older one (same) with another name on it but I can't remember what it is - possibly something like Virbram?and I had a yellow one a long time ago which I lost...

Anyway - very, very good guns which just keep working.
