As above are these makes any good ? I know that there are only two top brands stihl and husky but I don't have the funds to throw at these makes. I interested in changing my saw so just in early days of having a look round. Need something 18 " to 20 " bar 50cc to 60cc and saw echo and jonsered online with good deals.

Jonsered is a very good saw. Had same 18" one for 20 years, new ignition unit a few years back and the odd service here and there and that's been about it.
Just a red Husky anyway, comes out same factory.
I'd go for whatever the best garden machinery dealer in your nearest town supplies and services.

Makita (turquoise Dolmar) another option perhaps, we have several, keenly priced and give comparable performance and reliability to the big two in our experience.

We currently have a DCS7900 for heavy work, and a DCS500 which I have just swapped over to a .325 full chisel chain on a 15" bar - great improvement over the previous 18" 3/8 setup.
Have had various other one's over the years as well as Stihl's and Huskies, I really like the Dolmar stuff in comparison, we are about to buy a Makita 4 stroke combi power unit with chainsaw head too.

The standard 3/8 chain as supplied on mine was a 'hobby' type affair, semi-chisel with really prominent, power and speed sapping, guard links (anti-kickback). This made it slow to cut with really high drag in larger timber.

The .325 by comparison offers much quicker cutting and far more torque due to lower drag.

I think a 15" bar matches that saw much better as well, makes it far lighter for hedgerow work etc and yet better cutting in larger hardwood for the previous reasons.

Thanks for your replies I am very interested in what you say about .325 chain I might change mine is it easy but I would still stick with the 18" bar. Thanks again

60cc is not really enough power regardless of the make for a 20inch bar.
i would advise around the 70 cc for a 20 inch bar.
18 inch would be fine on a 60cc saw.
I have only really owned and used stihl and huslky and would adivise saving your pennies until you can afford one of these.
But if you are a occasional user then a Makita is a good solid saw choice.
