ECU losing calibration or function.

I’ve a ECU which myself and the NH technician think is losing it function / memory of the shuttke switch and or function of.

The switch was replaced before Christmas and after being H8 reset it was fine but today it went haywire again.

Are ECU issues such as losing function/ memory common?

Thanks

Not really in my experience. Quite reliable on the whole. Unless they have either been zapped/fried by careless welding or jumping or oil/diesel has run down the loom and entered the case.

Multi-way connecters, poor earths, loom issues/insulation rub through/shorts are usually far more common and troublesome. ECU are by and large very reliable.

Had a jd 550 (I think) round baler that was an absolute barsteward and no amount of physically adjusting the baler would make the net function work well or reliably at all, sent both boxes (cab and baler) to David king and was a completely different machine after that, was an absolute dream compared.

It seems highly unlikely that two switches would fail so close together. But I’d never heard of the ECU on the gearbox’s playing up. The tech guy says they send them to Germany to be re done when I said I’d send it to David King.

What’s the make of the ECUs? Bosch who supply a massive number of ECUs now do a service/exchange/repair service on ECUs. If you register with them you can see prices on their portal.

Have they got another one to pop in and try, before sending yours away to "Germany"

Usually an external issue making the ECU play up over time.

My thoughts also, I don’t want to be spending many hundreds of pounds for it not to resolve the issue. My feeling is they won’t have one in stock to test mine against.

May not be related but I know on 30 series Deere’s, if there’s an issue with the de-clutch switch the ecu (epc) controller deactivates it. You then have to go into the diagnostics to re-activate it again. I think it’s a safety thing then the clutch can’t engage accidentally.
Could it be something similar?
