EEC farm subsidies?

As mentioned above, it is not really comparing apples with apples. The US have insurances which are subsidised, NZ "subsidise" through marketing and trade deals, it is swings and roundabouts.

Support is a more rounded term and there is not an ag industry in the world which isnt supported in one way or another. Putting a figure on it is not easy though.

Our problem is our government doesn't want to support and we will be gambled away in a trade deal in favour of financial services.

You could reasonably ask '' what countries subsidise their:
Police force,
Fire service,
Road and rail
Education,
Health etc.

It doesn't seem unreasonable for a country to subsidise its food production, unless of course it's bust and can't afford to do so - like NZ.

Interesting. So you see farming/ food as a public service?

It's on par with the NHS, because without us there would be malnutrition to treat.

I fear you underestimate the supermarkets ability to fill their shelves with food from anywhere in the world. If they can already get lamb from New Zealand cheaper than lamb from Wales, or veg from Spain cheaper than veg from Lincolnshire or Cornwall, why would there be malnutrition to treat?

Agriculture in NZ is expected to stand on it's own merit just like any other business, so no need for agricultural welfare.
