They want written submissions from farmers. Have you been treated fairly? Bullied? They've stipulated terms, and it's take it or leave it?
Is this a good opportunity to use this EFRA Committee submissions to push back at things like GFC? because retailers are using Red Tractor as a means of pushing it onto it. Voluntary now, but Wil it be voluntary in 24 mths time?
For your milk price, are you invited by the processor to discuss and negotiate what a fair price is? Or are you just told they're paying 2p/l less next month? It's critical to get this info over to EFRA.
Maybe also that we've to have Red Tractor or SQC for grain, but not allowed Gatekeeper lab tests. Supermarkets and processors don't just throw their weight about on price/terms, but they also throw their weight about with assurance.
I've also been notified by a member that beef processor stipulating suppliers must do carbon audits, all vet meds used, feeding system, send in production data, etc. So there's another example. No cooperation from the farmer = no contract to supply them.
Same with grain contracts stipulating MUST BE farm assured. All merchants use the AIC contract.
Same with AHDB setting levy increases, and not affording the levy payers a vote if they want the rises or not.
Submissions are to be treated confidentially, so we can give specific examples if you've been treated unfairly or processors are stipulating terms.

And farmers are getting invited, travel paid, to meet MP's who will visit your table and chat to you about your issues, before they then go into the committee session.
