EFRA report into ELMS released

Speaking of which:

Learning activities
As a Sustainable Farming Incentive pilot participant, you’ll also be paid for taking part in pilot learning activities. These should take up to 15 hours per month.

Learning activities can be either core activities or other learning. Participation in core activities is part of your agreement, but you can choose which other learning activities you’d like to complete.

Defra’s Sustainable Farming Incentive pilot learning team ([email protected]) will email a pilot learning welcome pack to you shortly. It will explain the learning activities and what you can start doing now as part of your agreement, such as keeping a learning journal. It will also tell you how to register to join the online Sustainable Farming Incentive pilot forum, a great place to exchange ideas and advice with other farmers involved with the pilot quickly and easily.

Not being funny, and not wanting to pre-empt the contents of the 'pilot learning welcome pack', but I don't see it being us who need to learn anything from this process. I'm sure it's just unfortunate wording by Defra.
It's us who need to learn, not you, we are very clear about that!

Thanks for that, but I hope everyone within Defra understands that, because if you showed that extract from the pilot agreement to 10 people and asked the question "who is the learner ?" all 10 would all say "the farmer".
That certainly wasn't our intention, but I can see how you may well be right about that. Fair point, lesson learned.

🤷‍♂️

I will wait until we see the actual roll out of SFI..... one day. Then we will see what the actual Contracts have to say. Hopefully the ambiguous wording (leaning towards DEFRA) will be gone!

Trouble is by then it will be too late and thousands of family farms will be driven out of the industry at that point.

Hello :) I'm not missing in action, I am just not able to engage on here every day I'm afraid - we are going to set up another Q&A though (and regular ones going forward) and I'll look forward to it
Not much mention of Food in anything i am seeing in these schemes.
The public will probably be non too happy without food and so will you, and unless financial support is redirected at farmers pretty damn quickly you will not have any farmers left to provide it. Q & A sessions and powerless select committees will be the least of your worries. Rioting will be your main problem.
Fertiliser is currently unaffordable to UK farmers and Farmers around the world. Without it you will have about a third of the food you need to feed this country. Can you survive on a third of the food you currently eat. Action is needed NOW, not next year !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t bank on it given the level of arrogance displayed by DEFRA advisors.
