That sounds decidedly poor. Why would you not just buy a cheaper car and get even better? I have a 190hp Volvo (7.4s 0-60mph, so no shopping trolley) and can easily get 65mpg, average over long term is 55mpg.

you plug in at home - can add 285miles while I sleep, not often I need more than that in a day !
oh and it costs about a fiver !

It’s a jeep.
2030kg. 200hp. 4wd.
My sister has a Disco Sport Diesel and it’s doing 28mpg.
my EV has a sound generator which as well as warning pedestrians is also very helpful when driving as you miss the sound from throttle feedback
although it sounds like gimick i would recommend anyone specing a ev ticked that box
sounds quite cool as well - very “star wars”. !
we are doing 3-3.5mikes per Kw

I get 45mpg from my 2012 xtrail (admittedly only 173hp, but enough for most purposes). I really don't see your jeep as progress, i'm afraid.

I’d get 50mpg if it was my car, point is for the type of vehicle it is, with the comfort and refinement of it even averaging 40mpg I consider good as a Range Rover will not see anywhere similar to it.

Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of the idea of EVs, but I don't think that PHEV or HEVs are worth it, sorry.

Is the same range true of "self-charging" () hybrids?
The ‘self changing’ thing boils my pee. Obviously it’s marketing genius on behalf of Toyota but in practice the constant interruptions of the engine being turned off and the battery and motor taking the stain really does work.

i think long range PHEV has a place for higher milers until away from home infrastructure improves but longer term its pointless
in reality how many people regularly drive over 350 miles a day (model 3 range) though ? Tesla also rumoured to be anointing new battery technology soon
people but too much weight on this issue, its fear if the unknown but habing run a ev fir 3 weeks / 2500 miles now you soon get comfortable with this new world !

Why are they not worth it? They cost no more than equivalent diesel and they are ever so quiet and pleasant to drive.
Now she has gotten used to driving Hybrid she can’t stand the smell of Diesel.

Carrying two propulsion systems around just feels inefficient to me, I'm afraid. Full electric or full diesel please for me (I don't do cities, so no concerns about diesel pollutants).

That's the crux of the matter right there. Battery has a longer range than normal day to day use for 99% of drivers, but they just need to realise that. For those exceptional days, the range is still longer than the bladder of most people and battery recharges are getting so fast that it's not much more delay than filling one whilst you empty the other.

Looks a nice and very luxurious car, that's for sure. Not fast enough for me though (124mph max - ??) and the official economy figures (35mpg combined) are poor too.
Health to enjoy, but it's not for me.

I’d no idea 124mph was the max speed. I’ll never see it on the speedo that’s for sure.
