Electric fendt

Robert Llewellyn claims that the electric Fendt can pull "tons", so why is it on grassland tyres? Surely there is no way that a tractor that size can get enough traction for field work unless it is on agricultural tyres?

If and I suspect it’s a big if at the moment and something like this works and comes to the market I can see uses. My feeder tractor does 3 hours a day every day, that is 90% of its work. So 1000 hours a year. It only leaves the farm to do a bit of trailers or odd jobs and would never do a 8 hour day.

If electric was economic it would be a consideration. Can’t see why a small electric tractor couldn’t do the scraping up.

Can't see why electric wouldn't be economic, since efficiency is on a whole another level compared to petrol or/and diesel. Electricity costs around 11cents/1kWh compared to diesel/red diesel at 1,5€/l atm. Only problem is the size of the batteries, but i reckon that it'll be solved in near future.

Agreed that's the sort of things that would suit electric perfectly. Could likely hook them up to a solar charger when not working to reduce the cost more. Although sunlight in the winter could be an issue.

I like it . Think of the hundreds of a acres of council owned grass areas in towns and cities. These are all getting more and more strict on letting conventional engined vehicles in. This electric tractor would be ideal.
