Electric hyd control

On a static piece of kit at work there's a hyd valve operated by a long rod with a handle at the end, push one way to open, pull to close, it would be good if I could make it electrically operated so could have a switch further away from the valve but it also still needs to be able to operate as it is at the moment. Anyone any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Electro-hydraulic ram ? If they can turn a forager spout then could do the job surely? Must be able to get them on 240v or feed via a small transformer

On my phone so can't quote
@chaffcutter I should have said in opening post it needs to be pretty fast acting only moves 20mm each way though so might work, not sure how to fit it and leave existing control.

@KennyO
I had thought about that but the slice that controls it is part of a bigger block so don't fancy changing the lot.

Should have said on opening post its for the head gate on a crush

Low voltage for safety so probably 12volt electric solenoid in parallel with the existing valve.
Tee both ends of the ram and feed from both spool valves, the manual one and the electric one.
Loads on E-Bay or as above, just need a battery on the crush or a transformer from 240V to 12Volt.
Just be careful, you'll need DC (direct current as from a battery) if the valve is off a agricultural machine, so you'll need to convert from 12Volt AC from the transformer to DC by using a rectifier pack after the transformer.
Usually those conversions run into more than first thought, so plan well.

Remote control can be implemented using hardware again available from E-Bay (just for examples) to control the power to the 12Volt solenoid, via a relay.

What's been said. A solonoid. Push pull solonoid easily available.on ebay. Also on 240v as well.

Dead on, shout if you need links for stuff ...........
I would go for a hydraulic spool valve with 12Volt solenoid controls, to ensure you have the same force available as the original setup
Example only best to source locally, they will help with fittings etc
It must be DC so check with supplier click for link

I'm thinking the solenoid might struggle for force and it would also need to pull then return to neutral, also if its connected is it OK to move them manually.

@Mursal if liking your idea as I could plumb it up and try if it didn't work can revert back to original.

We have a couple of the valves that @rich8100 showed lying about but not sure they'd work.

If you've got any links stick them up if you don't mind

I stuck them (links) in my last reply

Just to repeat myself the electric/hydraulic valve must be DC (direct current) to work properly on a battery
