Why, At the moment people even get paid for charging there car overnight because there is just no demand.

The French electricity grid is basically nuclear power running flat out 24/7 and the build cost of them all is long gone.

Our leccy bill includes charges which aren’t immediately apparent. Smart meters, sub for renewables are the main two but also others. If the French don’t have those charges then obvs brings the price down to
