Electricity generation grid application

A solar farm developer has asked for permission to apply for a grid connection for our farm.
This initial bit of applying for the grid connection seems harmless enough. No commitment from us to take it further, but I guess we are tied to this firm if we wish to go for it.
We are interested in the idea, but before jumping in feet first, I am wondering if anyone with experience of these things could give me some idea of the rights and wrongs of what we may be heading in to.

Check them out to see if they are legit.

you have two options, let them get on with it, no hassle or cost to you, or do it yourself which is the opposite

if they get grid they can’t do anything with it without your say so and they will have only a few months to negotiate with you before it expires so the burden is on them to be reasonable
