If it is of any interest, I have a voucher that gets me and thee a £50 John Lewis voucher if you switch to Ecotricity on my recommendation.

When British Gas installed our smart meter 2 years we didnt get the wireless qizmo that monitors your usage , but a basic meter that calls them and tells them the amount used .
I take it nearly all new smart meters have the gizmo now?

EdF will only give you best prices if you agree to DD, it's 7% more otherwise.
NFU buying group have done me well in recent years.
As an aside I have my house with Robin Hood Energy who have been very well priced, however they seem to have managed to make a £23 million loss.
It's a "not for profit" (obviously) energy company setup by Nottingham City Council in 2015, so if you are from Nottingham, thanks for subsidising my electricity bill!

Mm, seems to be the way with new Companies. Lose a packet buying the market at a low rate, the quietly increase prices over the proceeding years. Then, once the balance sheet is starting to perform, sell the business for a shed load. They don' t appear to have any problems securing funding, even with accounts that look like a sick dog.

Eye opening experience this morning. On interrogating one of my latest Electric bills I offer the latest information on a contract taken out October 2020.
It is a Monthly account and I get hit with a surcharge cost for the period 1600-1900 every day of the year @28.654p/Kw period mon-fri 0700-1600 and 1900-2300 5.7950p/Kw all other times 4.868p/kw. this gives an average cost of 7.3501p/Kw
The hiding bit is then all the extras add up to another 7.0788p/Kw. In this is the Capacity availability, renewable obligation, FIT forecast, et-al. excluding VAT.
Electric may be cheap but its the extras now that are costing!

Update in percentage terms my consumption works out as 9% at premium rate. 34% at Mon-Fri rate, 57% at other times rate.

Further Edit Sorry but I had put a point in as if I was talking about £'s now corrected

Took one out early at the end of December to start on 1st June 21, as was told it was more likely to increase than decrease.

Very similar to @D14 .

British gas
Standing Charge 37.08p / day
Day 15.05
Night 10.84
24 month
Based on annual of 31,000 kwh
Could of had it slightly cheaper going on to British Gas Lite, but there is no call centre option and smart meter required.
