Just handed our notice in for end of June so it's time to get some quotes in.
Currently paying
9.78p day
5.60p night
£12.39 quarterly charge
Paid quarterly by DD

Didn't think this was bad but was only for 12 months:(
What sort of prices are people paying, and has anyone signed up recently?

I'd say that's pretty good , presumably the new terms are substantially higher , I'd ring the company and see how much they will shift you might be surprised

Thanks Flossie, you made me check some prices. We are with Good Energy for electric, similar price to yours. Also checked price for phone and swapped from Talk Talk can't understand a word you say to me, to plusnet the yorkshire ones, brilliant, plain english and half the price:)

Unusually for an energy company, Swalec have a big window for you to terminate,so they haven't got round to sending us prices yet. However, now our notice is in, the prices will improve considerably.
What I usually do is get the best quote possible off 5 or 6 companies then go back to the original and see if they can better it(y)If they can't then it's "au revoir":)
Last year I got quotes off loads of companies but some were so far out they aren't worth ringing again. Looking to maybe tie to a 2 or 3 year contract for peace of mind and save faffing doing this every 12 months.
Just thought it might be interesting to see the range of prices out there. Coincidentally, we are classed as a micro-business (<55000kw) but we've done a bit more this year, so right on the line.

They don't like us 14.46p daytime, 6.82p night time on 105,000 Kw annually. Perhaps its the haulage to Suffolk. Just moving away from EDF at 12.7p and 8.07p, not sure where to yet.

Were with British Gas last year, but saw Swalec was a good price (slightly less than the previous year(y)). Would like to go for a longer contract, but the trouble is I'm a sucker for a good deal:rolleyes:
Is living in Suffolk a bit like living in Wales or the Hebrides?:p

No I just thought that the price difference could be the bus fare from Wales.

Have finally signed for 12 months after trying to screw down prices-not done as well as last year, when I managed to get a cheaper tariff than we were on:( Staying with SSE, come July 1st, we'll be paying

10.924p day rate
6.185p night rate
£12.48 quarterly charge

add on 0.27p feed in tariff plus just over half a penny Climate Change levy:eek:
By my calculations, we'll be around £85/month worse off. Wanted to go for 2 or 3 year contract but we were talking around £130 month difference. For that sort of money I can make a few phone calls in 12 months time.

Has anyone else managed to get some good deals lately?

Tip... avoid British gas even if its free.
Totally agree crooks get you on-broad then 6 mths before end of initial contract ends send out a renewal contract you put to one side and forget about then they have got you on a levy of what they want to charge you we've not paid them since new contract started 1/12/12 still not sorted

I have put our electricity through Anglia Farmers. Saving was four times cost of membership. EDF still sent an estimated bill for the final payment which was £2,400 more than it should have been even though they quoted the correct metre readings that I had supplied via AF. They are all xxxxs and are all trying it on.

I did that, but I managed to wriggle out of it;)

Could you tell me more we've not paid them since the start of the contract they put us in by default 1/12/12 as they never read the meter to start new contract so my excuse is that how do we know how many units at the new rate which doubled only meter read they ever had is the one to join them

Apparently they only have to read your meter once every two years. We got a shock because of this. They had been sending estimates based on six monthly and then annual readings; we had some changes that they did not pick up on, and this meant that when they did read the meter we had a bill for £12,000 more than we were expecting. This was electricity that we had used, and we should have checked our own meter, but when you are busy these are things that get forgotten.
