Electricity tariffs/Prices

Just noticed our last bill is almost double what we paid last year with no change in circumstances.

Being royally shafted here!

Currently having a quick shop around.

When i was renewing my contract in feb, it was cheaper to go through broker than deal direct (by a few pence a kwh).
I cant figure out , as i get a cheaper price through broker, so the utility company gets less income and pays the brokers fee.
If they gave a decent price to begin with, i wouldnt have to go to a broker and they would save on paying fees.
I suppose they make it up on screwing the people that dont renew their contracts like @TripleSix !

I was up for renewal with Scottish Power, they were offering a two year @ 32.2sc 17.7ppkw I was unable to get them down on their price so I phoned a broker, they could get it a few ppkw cheaper than SP offered me. Although in the end I took a switch to British gas on a 3year fixed contract.
22.8 standing charge
16.2ppkw

British gas has offered this, what would you do?
1, 2 or 3 years?

It depends on what else you can find. We accepted a 3 yr contract last April (on a smart meter which was fitted FOC ) with Britsh Gas Lite (all done through computer/e mail, no bills , although you can ring broker (Love Energy) for any issues and they contact BG for you) 20pence day rate , 14,10 day and 9.89 night rate . They were the cheapest we could find after shopping around everywhere!
Not sure what they might want today , but I doubt its gone any cheaper and doubt it will in the next 2 and a half yrs (We have done 6 months already):)

I would not touch British Gas with a barge pole, we were completley up to date until they changed our meter 7 months later they sent a bill for 12 thousand pounds, alledgedly outstanding on old meter ! Fought hard but all we got was a big solicitors bill and 12 grand to find !

Did you take your own picture of the meter before you let them walk off with it? We had a wrong bill after they changed it ,only 60 quid more than it should of been but they soon put that right !!
Cant see how they could rip you off for 12 grand ????:bored:

They ran off with the meter when nobody was here, did not leave a reading, then we challenged the bill ( 6 months later) they had lost the meter, took them to court and lost !
