Electricity tariffs/Prices

Well it could but with 7 threads already "stuck", there is a danger of current "conversations" being squeezed.
Possibly some of the Sticky's could be Unstuck but that would be beyond my pay grade.

Or it could be stuck elsewhere I suppose.

What do peeps think?
Good idea but as you say wouldn't want to squeeze this section too much.

How about making it a sticky in the buildings and infrastructure section or the quote me one?

Just had a 3 year quote with out existing supplier - SSE
16.19 p/kWh, Fits 0.69 p/kWh, standing charge £67.69/q (75p/day)
That standing charge sounds a bit steep.
We were currently on E7 at 14.6 and 10.9 Fits 0.62 and £27.7/q and decided that we dont benefit rom E7
Any other options out there that you can suggest?
Thanks

Just been informed our newly negotiated buying group electric price is rising from 15p/KWh to 22.5p/KWh i.e 50% more. Looking at the prices achieved above only ~ 2months ago how can this be right?! Anyone experiencing similar? Thanks

Prices are going up upto 1p/week on some quotes can’t be sustainable price increases surely! Contract renewal up end of November, prices have got to come down before then surely?!?

Just had letter from British Gas with a one year renewal price from end November

Night 34.4p Currently 11.8 Variable rate 40
Day 39p Currently 16.8 Variable rate 46

Don't ask why I didn't do it weeks ago, my wife is already asking that.
Haven’t started on the phone calls yet, that’s just a standard letter price

had exactly the same from opus! At what price is a red diesel fuelled generator cheaper?

I litre of diesel should produce about 10 kw but only about 3.3 KWh of electricity after passing through a deisel engined gennerator. The rest being lost as heat, unless of course you can recover this.

so 90,000kwh should need roughly £18,000 of diesel @ 0.60ppl?

So would mean anything over 20p/kWh of electric contract offer we are better off with a generator and red diesel? If already have generator etc.

I am just quoting standard figures from Google. I would strongly advise getting serious advice if you are serious about this

Anyone had any prices in the last few days.
Have I got any chance of finding anything better or do I just accept what's offered.
Unfortunatly I have to do something in next week or so.

You've just had the initial comedy letter though haven't you? That's not their actual offer. It's just standard practice, their "having a laff" opener.

You absolutely MUST get other quotes. Or you could just ring your supplier (if you are almost comatose) and tell them you've had other quotes, they'll give you a better quote instantly. None of the quotes you get will be good but they'll be better than that letter.

diesel cost can be less than 20p/kwh for modern half decent genset, depending on loading. typically 215g/kwh for engine then 92% efficiency for alternator
215/0.92= roughly 234g/kwh of electricity
diesel is 850g/L, so 850/234= 3.63 kwh per liter so 16-17p per kwh

some are also a lot more efficient than this, this is just a typical example

Got some renewal quotes for my wife's shop by email on Tuesday pm from a friend who is a broker, Ranged from an increase of 65% to 120%
By wednesday dinner all quotes were pulled by main players due to rising gas price.
Spoke to him this morning and non were releasing quotes.
Not too concerned as only small usage and got 4 months before contract ends.
Luckily farm was renewed last October with a June 21 start for 2 years.
Can sympathise with your predicament.

You and I are in the same boat, we have been with bulb energy for 3 years on a sensible floating tariff, I did look around in the spring but quotes weren't competitive I thought......
Latest prices from bulb day 36p night 20p on a usage of 450kwh/day
