Electricity Wayleaves

SSE have just paid me the princely sum of £15.93 for 1 pole, a stay and a short length of overhead 11,000 volt cable. Last year the sum was £17.33. Have the rates been negotiated downwards? The stupid thing is that they insist on paying by cheque. Sometimes I can successfully photograph it and use the Lloyds banking app, but most of the time I can't make it work, so it's a trip to the post office, open 2 mornings a week in the garden centre in the next village or I will have to take it into the branch in the local town. I have asked SSE to pay it by BACS, but they refuse to do that.

Crazy that your wayleave has reduced considering standing charges on electric contracts have increased a lot.!
Have wayleaves decreased nationwide or just in certain regions ?

It’s worth double checking them. I got ours updated last year as over the years we have removed several fences and what was an non interfering pole becomes and interfering pole and pays more.

Im pretty sure there was a thread about 6 months ago that NFU renegotiated the way leave deal for all Or were part of the process. I’ll try and find it.

We have a request to accept the change of an electricity substation on our land .
Currently stands in 10 m x 10 m compound , surround by security fence .
They want to replace it with a similar, but up on H poles and moved 50 yards within the field so it doesnt apparently need planning .
The substation serves a large community , and is at full capacity .
There are several new building projects within the area that need supply and I dont know how theyre gonna get it , along with some that already cant get supply, but want it.
"" The thing is "", northern powergrid have offered me £136 annual new rental for the station and £35 for the new poles ***should I be biting their hands off ***

Also they will probably have wayleave to maintain but do they have it to "replace "
They dont want to pay for the compound they will use for 12/14 weeks
They have also just charged neighbouring new farm £20k to go 70 mts across their own field ! on two poles .
