I think if i'm reading it correct is 0.04ohms 1% R8 resistor. I'm reading black, red,red, silver, brown.

Ordinary resistor. Any electronics shop, online or brick and mortar will have them. A couple of pence.

Doesn't look like a particularly crowded circuit board, so should be fairy easy to unsolder and put a new one in.

Caps especially with age and diodes I suppose. Resistors fail if they're undersized

Match head would be good to compare size. Hard to tell on the photo.

You're probably right judging by that heat sink. Looks like some sort of a power/control circuit.

You do like the Chinese stuff. Maybe our kids generation have it right, Mandarin and Cantonese are the languages of the future.

You'd be safer going with the slightly higher wattage, as you say Mursal.

You could always mount it standing up, if it was a bit longer than original.
