Again race is irrelavant. Its the cold calling you don't like its nothing to do with race, its to do with labour being cheaper. You presumably would feel the same being cold called by a white londoner?
Yes you might be correct but i'll probs put the londoner in the same group coz i'll bet they aint white neither !!
there not helping themselves is what iam getting at.
I have the highest respect for all colours/languages or whatever.
but the simple fact is the Racist Card will always be there if they keep bothering us (Sorry to say this)
It pushes you into falling into the trap, bet there is plenty on here will admit that.

I really do tire of this stuff.
I have found the rural population, particularly those who work in agriculture to be the least racist people I know. Always willing to give anybody a chance. Lots of immigrant workers have come to Lincolnshire through the centuries and during my lifetime have always been well respected as they are today. When we had our roadside potato stall we sold a lot to foreigners, black, white, muslim etc. Never had a problem.
Really what is the big deal? We have all moved on by now surely, or do we really have to keep dredging up stuff?
Take people as you find them. Benefit of the doubt, but screw me over and I will take umbridge, no matter what race you are.

Sounds like you are jumping into a trap of your own making. There is no trap to be pushed into.

On this issue people should get their DNA checked out, some could be in for a surprise. My family tree has been checked back for nearly 500 years and my ancesters probably came acrosss from Normandy. My childrens DNA has shown up some traces of Middle Eastern & Scandinavian through their mothers lineage.
Am I an Englishman or not ? I welcome views!!!

Well everyone hates the English!

Well said but some on here always know better.

@Lowland1 - do you have a view on this? ;)
Everywhere is racist it’s human nature to be biased towards similar people be in colour or interests. I come across it everyday here as a White man in Africa luckily having more money than the majority of people means life is a lot better than it could be. I remember bringing me wife ( born in Kenya but of Indian origin) back to Lincolnshire she was a real novelty but if we have come across racism in UK I’d say it’s more out of stupidity than hatred. White people live in the countryside because they always have done, white people farm because basically it’s an inherited trade. There is nothing to stop Raheem Sterling buying a farm if he wants but he is unlikely to inherit one. I know of one half white half black young man running a farm and energy plant in the Lincolnshire Fens but generally it’s an all white business but so what. Racism is generally just another name for stupidity. I don’t dislike Lewis Hamilton because he’s black nor do I dislike Tony Blair because he’s white but Tony Blair is unlikely to pull the race card.

Correct me if I am incorrect, but is it not being said that people of Ethnic origins are more prone to Covid19. If the aforementioned is statement is true , know doubt it will still be classed as being racist, when in fact it is only a statement based on statistics, and nothing at all with being racist. :banghead:
TV folk like Ellie Harrison , Packham etc all
need to keep making partly outrageous statements , to keep their own self centred publicity machine moving along , as that is how they make their money , stay quiet “no publicity, no income”, simple as that.;)

It’s true. However if you read the Guardian it’s due to inequality and lack of access to healthcare not lifestyle and diet. We live in a society where if it’s not working for you it’s because of discrimination you are a victim. Lewis Hamilton or Raheem Sterling etc even though they have made it in life they don’t want to stand up as role models they still want to tell us how they’re victims.
I worked in a town called Crossville in Tennessee in the early 90’s they were proud to say that there were no negros in the county and if any were spotted they were made aware that they weren’t allowed to be there after dark. Now that’s racism in the countryside.

As Morgan Freeman said, if you want to stop racism, stop talking about it.
I’d disagree with that it has to be discussed openly. If you ask someone why he doesn’t like White people or Black people or Brown people usually you will get generalizations rather than actual facts. If you complain about Eastern Europeans coming here and stealing our jobs is it because they actually are or is it because you are jealous they’ve done well for themselves. Likewise if you are black and can’t get a job is it because you aren’t qualified or is it down to discrimination. The problem is vested interests have stopped debate the truth often is unpleasant. A good example would be compare the fate of Asian immigrants coming from Uganda with West Indians from the Caribbean all were vilified by the indigenous population on arrival but some have done well others not why is this? Problem is no one wants to talk about it.

That makes you very English, as being English is a mix of of different races.
As a Cornishman I find it funny when English people go on about immigrants as that's what the larger majority of English people are.
As for the Cornish we're among the ancients of this land but apparently we were immigrants too originally and go back further we were immigrants where we came from :scratchhead:

If you genuinely don’t think the countryside suffers from racism then you don’t live in any countryside I visit! It’s 100%better than 20 years ago but it’s still very present I’m afraid.

And how does Harrison’s sweeping generalisation of a headline bring anything positive?

I’ve not read the article, what’s the point? The headline has planted a seed in my mind of what’s written and I’ve made up my mind how I feel before I read any further than the headline. As will most people, be they black or white, old or young, urban or rural.

I’m feeling defensive because that headline does not reflect me or my family in the slightest. Yet it’s out there forever and because I’m part of “the countryside” she is telling others that I’m racist by association.

She can take her navel gazing, woke-centric, attention seeking article, roll it up nice and tight and shove it.

Genuine question and no sarcasm intended.
Please can you explain to me what is meant by racism is in the countryside ?? :scratchhead:
I see it, jokes about colour , older people very wary of non English to a point they won’t take to them. It is better than it used to be. Yes you see similar in the city but the opening post is about saying the countryside has racism which in my mind it does. Quite how you change it. I do think you can. It’s similar to a pack of dogs, some will get on, some won’t.

Our neighbours came to the farm next door to us in Lincolnshire from Nottinghamshire 45 years later they are still foreigners who speak funny and as for some others down the fen from Norfolk how are we supposed to understand them. It’s always been like that the problem would be magnified if they were a different colour that would be racist. Colouring just makes people stand out a bit more but truth be told country folk tend not to like outsiders.
