I was stirring. As someone else said it’s already expensive to do.
Perhaps, but in Autumn 2020 we had a demo with a strip till drill, wheat after beans yielding a disappointing 6.75t/ha

On similar land, wheat after beans either ploughed or Trio'd yielded 10t/ha.
The extra 3.25 T/ha @ £200/t = £650/ha.

So I guess you're right, as a result of ploughing we made more profit meaning we pay more tax.

Fair enough. I do enjoy reading peoples accounts of simply not doing a cultivation or ploughing and doing one bit of direct drilling. The system is far more than just the absence of soil movement. But each to their own.

We really wanted the strip till drill to work, we were looking to buy one. Then the rain came, the Rapid stayed in the shed & the Weaving saved the day.

A neighbour had a contractor DD a lot of wheat after beans with a JD, I don't know what the yield was but there was a lot of blackgrass. He was offering it as arable silage at one stage but got no takers so it was combined. This Autumn it was ploughed.

Like I said each to their own.

One day I'm convinced I will catch up with one of those feathered rats in the furrow eating my worms!
Trapped a few over the years. Think of all that carbon capture.....:hungry:
I did rescue them all. Surprisingly nasty birds. Carried welding gloves in the cab in the end.....
