Time to have a touch of reality with this ELMs lark, you will notice dear sweet Janet never mentions how these ELMS schemes are to be monitored, do any of you really think the government with DEFRA's so called "simplified" schemes are not going to want proof of value for money.
Are they going to train up thousands of inspectors at great public expense or are they going to put it out to a company set up by a farmers union with all the expense paid for by the farmers themselves with the added ability to suspend members who do not fully comply, after all how could farmers possibly object it's a company set up by the farmers themselves?
Can I suggest when one of you innocents is next having a fire side chat with Janet you ask for a cast iron guarantee from DEFRA that any monitoring of the scheme will be carried out by DEFRA alone for the full term of any agreement & watch for the guarded answer!

DEFRA already have loads of inspectors trained up, so surely they will just be using those?

Have you any reason at all to believe that RT will be involved, or just paranoia?

If you were in government up to your eyes in debt what would you do, why wouldn't they use Red Tractor as they already make farm inspections all paid for by our gullible selves, won't happen immediately they need to get everyone signed up & committed first!

Red Tractor is getting enough grief by those of us who it has conned money out of.
On top of which it is severely criticised by the likes of Channel 5’s Dispatches programs. And it will undoubtedly continue to be so.

There is no way it would be trusted to take on any Govt. inspection work without it being seen as a reverse Nepotism role!

Not even Boris would dare to attempt doing so.
End of story, panic over.

Red Tractor or SAI GLOBAL to give it it's proper name ( 05-13-intertek-acquires-sai-global-assurance ) is now a vast money making machine, just the sort of company that Bozo would sell us down the river to.
Far fetched, don't be too sure!

Let's hope dear Janet can give you those cast iron assurances next week!

I think she already dismissed that idea that red tractor would be involved.....however a name change will allow the deceit to occur.
That people is the problem, I they have lost our trust and embarking on a relationship with people you don’t trust is foolhardy and liable to end in tears.

Well all I can say is I make out the annual cheque to SAI Global & it is ultimately owned by Intertec.
Ha ha!
We also pay NSF by cheque cos there’s no way we will allow those ….ers to be getting a DD to take money out of our Bank Account!!

Actually, we use NSF for the grain and SAI for the Red Deer Livestock. Both are for Red Tractor.

We are almost at the stage of having to blow the cobwebs off the chequebook these days, but for such organisations.

I asked this exact question in one of the recorded Q&A sessions and Janet replied that there were no plans to use an outside organisation like Red Tractor to monitor and inspect.
No plans, but before anyone signs a binding agreement it needs to be confirmed in the conditions of the contract that Defra alone will monitor the scheme over the full term of the agreement otherwise farmers could find themselves with a lot of added costs & hassle by having to pay an independent firm such as Red Tractor ( SAI Global)!

I’ve just remembered that SAI don’t take cheques any more. No doubt to try to encourage us to fall into their DD trap.
So we pay them by BACS.
