Email invoices

Got to laugh at the comments on this post. Don’t want to use a computer to do the books as too complicated but yet are happy to use a similar device be that phone or computer to go on here.
I thought the same.

About 75% are emailed now, biggest problem is forgetting them,I usually forward them to my wife as she does most of the paying, sometimes I forget so I’ll set up a dedicated email address and pass it on to suppliers.

I prefer email over paper because you can find them with a search and the kids can’t draw on an email.

Big difference between having a nosey in here and discovering the internet is slow or non existent to when you've made time to pay bills/ do the books and it's not working. How do you pay bills when a tree takes the line out and isn't repaired for 2 week's

Ahh so a little white lie on my part there, I actually submitted it to my accountant 9 months ago, he never bothered to submit it but didn't tell us and kept lying to me when I rang and asked him, so I submitted it myself 3 months ago but got told it would take a minimum of 4 months so just a waiting game I'm hoping
Applied for one last week got it within a couple of days. Just got to get it into Xero now to be able to do the return.

Almost all paper here. Sometimes have to log in using two factor authentication just to view a £14 mobile bill, poor mobile reception means It's very hit and miss and can easily waste 15 mins.
Also when the cloud gets hacked and everyone loses all their data you've still got a hard copy.

I'm not, applied for a vat number 9 months ago still not got it, currently edging ever closer to £20,000 owed in vat
Is that a new VAT number or a transfer? Transfer doesn't have the online application option and is awfully slow at the moment, 9 months wouldn't surprise me, new one should be quicker.

Invoices are paperless here, emails get auto forwarded into Dext if it has the word invoice anywhere in the email, paper invoices photographed and shredded, again put into Dext.

Invoices recognised, checked and pushed into Xero. Takes about a morning per month to do the invoice admin for two businesses (one farm and one milk processor).

I work as an accountant during the week, and neither us nor HMRC need hard copies, digital is adequate.

How many people have gone completely paperless? Got a few occasional suppliers with email invoices but just received one off feed company who spend 200k+ with a year, considering just had £17/t increase i dont see why i should become their secretary as well, we use xero but accountant still wants paper invoices.
Each to their own. Personally I tell any company that wants to email me their invoices that they should maybe think again if they want me to actually pay them. Their choice. Remarkably they without fail stick them in the post.

I tried to move away from Xero after two years, but didn't In the end.

If I had of, I would have lost access to all my digital copies of invoices without re subscribing. The data is still there but no access to it.

I now keep a paper copy of invoices as well so if I do move I still have copies.

We scan all paper invoices and download a copy of emailed invoices to Windows, save to cloud and back up with another cheap computer just in case. Use Xero as many have stated but find digital copies are easy to find in normal Windows files.
