Emailed invoices

Just wondering how others deal with invoices these days.

We get the majority of invoices posted, but are starting to get some emailed and some posted with statements emailed.

I find it extremely frustrating. Some end up in junk folders as spam, some just have a person's name as the sender not the company.

I developed a good system with the morning post, now I need 2 systems.

And I still have to print them out

Struggle a bit with emailed invoices as they get lost... Perhaps the answer is to have an 'accounts' email address to get the all in the one place. I'm sure it will only get more common.

Agree, until 3 or 4 years ago it was easy and nothing ever got lost as long as it went straight into the drawer. Now, it takes ages to go through the inbox to find invoices from online sellers or card payments.

Trouble is you give somebody your email address for one thing.

On your iphone

Next thing you get sent an invoice without ever agreeing to accept emails on that particular address

My iphone won't talk to the printer

Wait till they ring or send a statement through the post

I have told one company that they will only be paid if paper invoice comes in the post. They manage to do this until last week I order some parts. Today they ring up and say they won't send till I pay a September invoice. Guess what? They emailed it not posted. And can I stop what I'm doing go to the office, find email, log onto bank and do an electronic payment.

Stupid thing is I only paid them last week for December invoices sent in the post

Macbook intermittently talks to printer. Iphone not.

How do you manage it?

should find it as an air printer automatically if on the same wireless network ? - iPad, macbook, iMac and several versions of iPhone have never had a problem wit my HP or epson wifi printers at home or work

might be something set wrong on your phone blocking it maybe ?

I prefer email invoices in and out. Am getting a lot of fake invoices and remittance advice emails at the moment though. Be careful what you open folks it may say it's a word document but Google reckons it isn't.
Normal rules apply only open attachments from known sources and if in doubt, Google is your friend.

Still in the dark ages here, each job gets an itemised hand written invoice sent out 28 days after

Carbon copy kept for retention and put in the tray, when its paid it gets marked with date and type of payment, marked with a perment marker and filed away

Old fashioned, but simple

I was expecting your post to say you wrote all your invoice out in detailed calligraphy with the skill of an account monk on finest parchment with ink and feather quill and balls to this modern paper and pen or god forbid computer stuff ! :)

It takes a few seconds to print them off
The trouble starts when you check email at home etc, once it's not at the top of the emails it's out of sight out of mind. We also have two email addresses just to complicate things a bit further.
It'll happen in the end tho, I much prefer paying by BACS.
