Empty Reels for use on a Rappa barrow?

I have 2 fields with semi permanent electric fencing I need to take down and move back as margins are being removed, and rolling it up with the Rappa, is the quickest and neatest means of doing so, before re-erecting! All the wire was bought on supply-only reels.

Just priced Rappa blank reels, and wondered if anyone has found any cheaper reels that fit the rappa wind up kit? Only wanted as a short term measure so I don't need premium reels!

I have used Rutland reels in the past, bored out a bit in the centre, but they have disappeared it seems...

Not for Rappa but would hand wind reels do for a temporary job

Thank you. I have had some of the cheapies from Voss, and would probably pay the Rappa price rather than use them again for hand winds... :)

I do wonder if they would pull apart and go on the Rappa shaft though...

Later... No the Rappa shaft is 20mm, the Voss reels have 30mm or 35mm centres :(

Get some empty RAPPA reels, use them to roll up & unroll that wire, then put some poly wire on them after? Either save for use for normal fencing, or stick on eBay (or here) to recover most of your outlay?

Hand reels, or spurious ones, might be a bit cheaper but what’s your time & hassle worth, if you already know how simple the RAPPA winder makes the job?

Is it possible to have too much fencing wire...? Good point about selling 1/2 doz reels on though...

I have looked at finding some shaft tube to make the cheapies fit, but 10mm difference is a lot!

So I choked back the tears, and ordered 4 reels from Rappa... ;)

Interested me that my details were still on their system from when I last made an order, almost certainly, for reels, about 12-15 years ago :)
24 hr delivery,,, quite impressive :)

My lad is on Leave in a week or so and based on past experience, he will be bored after a day.... so He will be given the Rappa barrow (just serviced it again*) and send him on his way 2km of 2 strand, to wind up.

Sorry, I didn't realise it was a barrow you had. May I retract my comment above about realising how easy it was with a RAPPA. :censored:

But anyway, on a more important matter...... any Yorkies?😋

We got some reels that have a Centre about 10mm to big so I just cut off a couple lengths of plastic water pipe and put in them and they work fine
penny saved and all that

I did have a home brew attachement on a baby compact tractor with reverse steer, almost as good as a Rappa on a Quad! Tractor gone now, so back to pushing, but on smooth grassland, not too much of a ballache.

I might look at a trailer unit one day, if the sheep numbers grow beyond the cpability of my Missus walking around taking off the wires, while I wind up!

No choccie :(
