End tow field roller

I have a 12ft grays field roller and want to try and make it end tow for on road but all hydraulic rather than take it off and change position etc has anyone on here done this I don’t have the money to fork out for one but have the skills to build my own

you'll need to change the wooden bearing end blocks for proper bearings and make a centre support to hold the bar up when you lift the roller or the bar will bend and snap, been there done that :rolleyes:

Perfectly do able but because of the design it uses some quite hefty stuff to stop it spreading its legs when your scooting down the road. Have a Watson here and really like it.

I've done one with my existing 10 foot drums albeit you have to get out of the tractor to change over from field work to road work. Really liked the idea of the Watson but whichever way I tried, couldn't get the geometry to work for the transport/ work position to give adequate clearance. Keep telling myself that I'll have another go one day but in all honesty when you take it to blocks of away ground it's not a great hardship to swap the roller over from transport to work. Doing lots of swaps eg smaller fields would become a ball ache though I do agree.
