Anyone going to the seminar for Endurance owners at Stroud to hear doom and gloom on Endurance Turbines if you read the first paragraph of their letter?

And then their proposed fix's and I guess charges!!!!!

No, had an email and a letter. As my existing ops & maintenance co own a large number of E3120's themselves as well as managing many more, I am confident they have it covered, if not, they will no doubt come to some commercial arrangement with Britwind rather than expecting individual turbine owners to sort things. We've already moved off ERIC as well.

We are aware a number of our clients have recived this info. Our view is there are a number of different options coming to martket to upgrade bed plates, shafts etc.. Earthmill alongside Nat Gen are currently reviewing them all and aim to give an independant view on what if anything is best suited to the clients site.

I presume britwind , nat gen , and earthmill are all fairly equal companies competing for the same O and M business ?
the letter seems to suggest that britwind have superior knowledge? is that just a marketing exercise?

There will always be variability between companies, but we've been maintaining these turbines for 8 years and have a pretty good handle on the issues. We've taken over many turbines from now departed O&M providers and some servicing has been shockingly bad.

Also proud to say that we are the only original E-3120 service provider that is still under the same ownership as when we started out.

We had a really nice and informative email from Natural Generation yesterday on this subject(y)

Problems are all known: bed plate, low speed shaft, and wear to blade pitching system. But Britwind did provide some good technical analysis.

Britwind's solution for bed plate and low speed shaft is expected to cost £40-45k installed and is a combined solution (not one or the other). We haven't assessed this yet, a major part of the cost will be removing/refitting the nacelle.

No solution offered on blade pitch system by Britwind at this time. There are already solutions available (i.e. the one we are using).

The truth is there is two bed plates for market

You got Gailforce and TED both of which you can research yourself

I prefer GF bed plate, absolutely bulletproof where as TED still keeps the original design with few changes

Both due low speed shafts upgrades which are also good but once again I personally prefer the GF design

Now as far as I am aware with TED I haven’t seen one with the hydrolic brakes rigged up fully yet

The main issue that needs solving on these are the blades spring tubes
yes I am aware DC21 has access to really good spring tube upgrades but long term test isn’t there yet :)

Seems like Britwind has released their bedplate to the market. I saw a flyer on linked. Any news anybody? Any idea of the cost and real benefits of doing this?

I am well aware that I am speaking with hindsight but I am so pleased that I was not persuaded by Earthmill to change our project to an Endurance turbine.
We have 98% + availability since commissioning [emoji6]
