What are your solutions to cracks in the bed plate, blade knocking, main shaft failures, over speeds?

All common problems on the 3120. Getting more difficult to insure these turbines.

EWT would be better looking after their own turbines instead of trying to put the existing service companies out of business.
I have had a email from my service company out of the blue with a quotation re welding bed plate cracks on my E3120 . I haven't had any notification before of problem's re cracks but was serviced without any notification again!!!!! 2 months ago I believe.
Surely I should have had atleast a phone call explaining problems and a email of photos showing the cracks or am I asking to much? And quotation is only valid for a couple of weeks:banghead:.
I feel like someone wants to help themselves to MY money(n)
Any one else had similar?

Yes. Going through all these problems at the moment. Had the bed plate welded but that's only a temporary fix maybe only months rather than years!! We will all be looking at rebuilds eventually unfortunately

Bugger it. More expense. :(. Hardly surprising EWP went under was it.

This is a genuine question do some owners regret having the turbines installed? The reason I ask is because we were thinking of putting up a turbine a few years ago, but the numbers just looked too good to be true and it was a big investment so that put us off a little.

So did we mess up or was it a lucky escape?. I'm not asking for private financial details, just general opinions please.

Has your Turbine paid for itself yet? These machines have to last 20 years to get all the FIT and hopefully beyond that to help your retirement fund
I always thought the Endurance Turbines were some of the best ones on the market at the time when I was going through the process 2010-11 but it seems like they are not standing up to the UK climate very well at all.
There is an Endurance close to us has had no head on for the past 8 months or so, it has just been repaired now, I could not bear the stress of it. Does your insurance policy cover this loss of income??

Are the C & F Irish Turbines still chugging along or are these being plagued with problems also?

I managed to put up 2 500Kw Enercon`s Probably the most stressful 3 years of my life but now all up and running the best financial investment I have ever made

That's highly dependent on the FIT rate people are (could have been) on. Personally, a decent 2012 rate has very roughly covered the initial outlay, but it'll take another FIT year to cover the costs since (maintenance, insurance, repairs outside/after warranty). £5k a year of business rates was never in the budget, for example. I would hope that my FIT will outweigh ongoing repairs for a while yet, but there will be a point of no return. At the very best it will be day 1, year 21, when export will barely pay the rates.

Agree with the business rates all the projection figures I had from land agents never even mentioned them!! It is now my biggest annual cost even more than the service contracts

Has your Turbine paid for itself yet? .
Mine will take around 10 years to cover my main loan and then there's a over draft facility that due to a exceptionally prolonged build project and there for started off way to high as it was heading close to a year from starting repayments to first fit payment landing and has crept up. Alot of this doesn't help by running it as a limited company but it's constantly hemorrhages money mainly due to my sites wind speed being well over exaggerated by the site survey and only has ever produced 2/3rds of forecast production 168000 Kw's as true production of 120,000 Kw's is real border line viability and far worst now ALL cost have shot up but Fits had dropped several times while going through planning. There has never been extra monies within the limited company and its constantly needing money from my farming and contracting by many 10's of thousands:(
My turbine is just over 3 years old and I really wish it had never come through my planning appeal and look forward to seeing it come down!!!!!!!

We got bogged down in planning appeal and luckily got thrown out by the Minister after months of delay. Bought some land instead...better the devil you know!

We lost FiT rate due to the planning and appeals process and then the first year happened to be the lowest wind speed year for 35 years.
We had hoped to pay back in about three years but more likely to be 4 or 5 now.
Planning was stressful but dont regret doing it

We've taken on quite a few new customers of late, this is always my first conversation with them. I am surprised how few turbine owners have never had a proper explanation. Most think it was just the drop if FiT, where as the reality is it goes much further.

We only have a few E-4660s. Main issue has been the gearbox reaction arm coming loose. Other than that they do seem to be an improvement on the 3120's failings. Though I am concerned on how harsh the braking is.

Hey there! I run HM Business Consultanting and work with clients in every industry. Currently I have a client, All Energy Management (AEM), that some of you might be interested in finding out more about. While I was doing some research I came across this posting and thought I would share their information, as I do think it might be helpful to a few of you out there.

Currently, AEM is the only company in the industry to perform a successful aftermarket bed plate install on an E-3120. They are doing some cool things when it comes to turbine service innovation, most of it on EWP products.

Here’s their link for more information about what they do/ their successes: http://aemanage.com/blog/

Cheers,

HM

Is there any insurance companies left that will insure Endurance Wind Turbines as our insurance is about to be renewed and we just keep drawing blanks as no one will take it on and our current insurers have stopped all renewables????
