Environmental bill

Just been watching the jokers in parliament discussing the new environment bill, do the nfu or other lobying groups have any say with these matters.

I've heard them talking about water,
planting trees, carbon sequestration but no mention of cover crops or direct drilling to aid the countries aim of dropping carbon levels to achieve net zero.

Surely the lobbying groups should of been pushing this with this being such an important bill and such an easy way to build farming in a good light with Joe public.

Funnily enough I was watching a bit too but couldn’t stand Villiers whiny voice so turned it off.
GE will kill it I would think for the moment

You think cover crops and direct drilling are things they'd be particularly concerned about? Do we really need them micromanaging the countryside to that degree? Also you're demonising everyone else who don't use cover crops or direct drilling, is that really a good idea?

Not demonising but there environmental benefits shouldn't be overlooked it's something that can help arable farmers going forward.

The worry is that ''Environmental'' groups will regard it as a gravy train. And Teresa Vegetarian Villiers will probably accommodate them, unless folk like Owen Patterson will be able to provide a steadying hand,

Yeah, well, once they have read the thousands of responses from farmers to the national food strategy consultation, they will have a clear understanding that the best way to protect the environment is to maximize UK home production (y)

As far as I’m aware no one is lobbying Defra for conservation agriculture ?

I wouldn’t think the NFU would as it’s not really in the best interest of the majority of their members I guess ?
