Enzo and Heptavac....??

Managed to track down my vet guru :)

Jab with AB immediately after scanning*, (so this week), and again shortly before lambing is optimum.

As has been said here, a big no on Hep and AB together...

*Any barrens found, are off next week, so they will not be jabbed.. ;)

What was the thinking behind not giving Hep at the same time as AB? Was it just the timing not being ideal?

As I don’t reckon to have my ewes in more than a couple of times over winter, I’ve always been happy to jab any lame sheep needing it whenever they are in, whether it’s been at scanning or vaccinating.
I usually scan quite late, so my vaccinations/boluses are often done the next day, whilst sorting out singles, barrens, etc.

A lot of sh!t can happen in 4 hours!
At least you found them all alive.
Iv always been a big believer in lights off at 10 and leave them alone until 5 and 95% of the time nothing will lamb… but these are via AI and have been 1-2 lambing every hour since they started day and night 😂

Maybe serves you right then, if you knew they were all due on a certain date, knew they were all on busy lambing at that rate, but didn’t provide sufficient labour to cover?;)

Not due for 2 more days going off the AI techs dates so wasn’t keen on staying up all night for no reason 🙄🤦‍♂️

Hi @steveR , are you lambing yet? Have the sheep been behaving?
Jimdog1
No lambs as yet. Ewes looking good, thanks.

But so far, so good, no abortions and 10-12 days to go... 🤞 Although with a raft of trips, I am anticipating a slightly earlier start...maybe!

In the end, I just went with one big Alamycin jab, and hoped for the best. I did not jab at the same time as the Heptavac, as I felt they did not need any more stress.

You?

So far so good thanks. Same lambing date as you by the sound of it. This time last year we had already gone in with Allamycin. Had a bit of twin lamb but sheep coming out of the shed for cake so keeping a good eye on them.
Hope all keeps going well for you. 🙂

May be veering slightly off topic on this one but was hoping for someones opinion - had a ewe slip a pair of lambs today, she's 3 weeks early but has a little bag on her....any chance op adopting a lamb onto her? its her first lambing and lets just say it wouldn't be a wet adoption as there's not much on them at all but is it worth a try to get her tied for a day or 2 to try it or leave her be? Thanks all!

If you've got a spare lamb, there's no harm in trying but wouldn't be going out looking for one.

Started unofficially 3 days ago*, a twin scanned, had trips, one dead, and all a bit prem! Twins gone on well...

Trip lambed today, first dead and cleaned off when I went to her, second fine and sucking, 3rd still in bag with enzo nodules... Knew we would see a few, but still annoying. But better than last years start!..... I hope !! Pity as she is awash with milk.... All 3 looked fully formed .

Been feeding trips about 500g/day, as did not want a repeat of any TLD like last time (or my neighbour) as they will not take the Chrstalyxx buckets very well, and a lick to the others to get them quiet to a bucket :)

* Lambing due to start tomorow... Be good to crack on in this nice weather 🤞
